Welcome to the Studio House Quarterly Newsletter!
As some of you may know, I’m always working on something and doing a little bit of everything. This is my way of doing a better job of keeping you in the loop.
A Little About Me

Hi! I’m Jakia Fuller, a multi-disciplinary artist, designer, writer, and arts administrator who’s living a life full of adventure, creating art, clothing, spaces, and experiences that bring a smile to people’s faces and spark joy
2024 Highlights
2024 was a whirlwind in so many ways, so here are some of the highlights:
- The Radical Practice of Black Curation: A Symposium – April 11, 2024
Attending this symposium impacted and inspired me profoundly. To learn more, check out my blog post, “Catalyst for Creative Agency | Reflection on The Radical Practice of Black Curation: A Symposium”.

- SITE SANTA FE: Jeffrey Gibson, the space in which to place me, at the U.S. Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale
While in my administrative role at SITE SANTA FE, I had the pleasure of supporting this exhibition from behind the scenes for a year. I learned what goes into creating a dynamic and impactful layered exhibition. Everything from project management to fundraising to event organizing and scheduling to exhibition design and management.
Traveling to Venice for Vernissage Week (April 14th – April 21st) to provide support for opening programming was memorable. In my downtime, I met artists, curators, and collectors who offered advice and encouragement. They poured into me in ways I wasn’t expecting, which prompted moments of reflection for future next steps.
I believe that there are still ripples in motion from this experience, and I look forward to seeing what comes next. Supporting this project is one of the highlights of my career to date.

- Sheer Creativity: Adventures in Sustainability with Multi-Disciplinary Artist Jakia Fuller
In the spring, over Zoom, I sat down with Laraya of Sheer Creativity to discuss my creative journey and practice, sustainable fashion, and how it shows up in everyday life. If you’ve been curious to hear my thoughts or talk about my work, then this episode is for you!
- Sustainable Fashion Week US – September 7th & 8th | The Modern-Day Alchemist – 8-piece collection

- Fashion Week Brooklyn – October 19th | The Modern-Day Alchemist, extended – 11-piece collection

- Departure from SITE SANTA FE
Everyday was an adventure! I learned so much in my role as the Executive Associate at SITE SANTA FE, that I will take with me in my next chapter.

Black In Project

A cultural critique expanding and diversifying the narrative of success within the African Diaspora. This project provides a space for open and honest conversations with our community where they can share in their own words their definition of success, how they got to where they are today, lessons learned, and more.
Later this month and in the coming months, interviews with Eric Nixon, Terrence Moline, and Nakita Pope will be available. To experience the project, click here.

Kaizoku Uncharted, an anime podcast
Resuming next week! Started in the Fall of 2021, Kaizoku Uncharted is a podcast where my brother and I said the vast sea of anime. We discuss the current anime season, shows we love, characters we can’t stand, and more. Last summer we took a hiatus and now we’re back. If you’re interested in anime, but not sure where to start, give our show a listen or share it with your friends who love anime.
Remnant Design Co.
The Vibe

Inspired by the vast world of anime, fantasy, and video games, Remnant Design Co. is a concept store that functions as a modern-day guild for your everyday adventuring needs. Divided into five spaces to cultivate and spark one’s sense of adventure and wonder.

The Spaces
- The Shoppe – Offers products in clothing, accessories, skincare, beauty, shoes, furniture, stationery, home decor, and art primarily made by creatives of color and local creatives.
- Interactive Space (iS) – an interactive space that can change to feature the following: contemplation zones, art installations, performance art, exhibits, poetry readings, and hosting intimate concerts with local and traveling musicians.
- …(Ellipsis) – a tea and coffee house that serves tea, tisanes, coffee, juices, desserts, and pastries. A place for the community to work, meet, socialize, relax, and read.
- Co. (Community) – Serves as a call to action hub, where people are actively adding adventure to their everyday lives. Whether it’s to meet, take classes, attend creative talks and panel discussions, participate in clothing swaps, book clubs, etc.
- Noticeboard – a digital and physical noticeboard with a focus on local happenings and opportunities for people to meet up, go adventuring, and try or learn something new. The possibilities are endless.
I’m excited to share that the first iteration of The Shoppe is now live! Currently, original art, prints, and note cards are available for purchase. Later this month and in early February, clothing from my in-house brand Variant by Design will be available. I’m working on hosting curated clothing swaps and one-on-one wardrobe curation. More details to come, so stay tuned for those announcements.
I’ve been working on this concept for 8 years, and I feel that now is the time to go for it. Thanks for coming along on this adventure!
Stay connected with me!
