Release, A Black Woman’s Tears

Serving as a self-love letter and reminder to Black women that it’s okay for us to release what needs to be released. Whether it’s joy, laughter, pain, frustration, anger, sadness, softness, happiness, laughter, and more, with various infrastructures and systems of oppression and suppression in play, there is an unspoken way of being where we suppress and withhold what we’re feeling and experiencing, which results in an emotional and mental blockage that soon impacts our physical wellbeing, you know of the saying, the body keeps score.  Therefore, I wanted to explore what would happen if we, Black women, were to unleash the floodgates of our individual and collective experiences. My hope with this series is to encourage Black women to be fully present in their emotions and help minimize the stigma of being emotional and other tropes placed upon us. I know that in doing this work, we will inspire and encourage others to do the same. It starts with a small ripple.
